Cockenzie Power Station
National Height Specialists were called out to Cockenzie Power Station to make safe large areas of spalling concrete.
Our team of highly trained steeplejacks erected a fan deck scaffolding to the online chimney which prevented a shutdown of the plant, the scaffold installed has temporarily made safe the chimney termination until a planned shutdown of the chimney can be scheduled to allow the dangerous concrete windshield to be repaired.
National Height Specialists quick response to this emergency prevented any major proplems developing within the Power Station.
Byker Heat Station
The chimney at the controversal Byker Heat Station was dismantled into sections by removing the internal linings and then the external windshield.
The entire operation was carried out in a 12hr turnaround which seen the chimney dismantled and removed from site much to the applause of the Byker locals and press who campaigned for the chimney to be removed for over a decade.
Blacklaw Windfarm
National's highly trained Rope Access Division were a key player in the internal refurbishment of the 60m high wind turbine at Blacklaw Wind farm after a devastating internal fire.

Chimney Lining Inspection
During an inspection of a Power Station chimney the brick lining was found to be deteriorating to a degree that jeopardised the integrity of the entire lining.
These photographs show the defective brickwork which was replaced with new radial brickwork which was built using heat and acid resistant mortar.
